Joel has been in the healthcare IT space for the last several years, with experience in integration, database administration and development, data warehousing, and data engineering.

He has an advanced diploma in Computer Systems Technology from George Brown College.

In his current role, Joel has developed solutions for data engineering projects aimed to prepare data for research. One such example is the Learning Health System. The project integrates several hospital systems with a Natural Language Processing engine to build a longitudinal database describing a breast cancer patient’s healthcare journey.

Previously, at Unity Health, Joel was an administrator and developer for the Enterprise Data Warehouse, working with an industry parter and several departments within the hospital to integrate data from the many disparate systems into a single warehouse for efficient data access.

Outside of the office, Joel enjoys spending time with his family, and riding and racing his bicycle.
